To clear up confusion, this game will be available in 2019 on Xbox ONe, PS4 and PC.
Characters: Ellie and Felix and many others.
Your character can be created with a backstory. For example, Gameinformer explained that their character was afraid of fire because of some crazy backstory. There's a full character creator even though it's first-person only (you'll see your character in the inventory, and if you leave the game idling long)
Obsidian does have their own leveling system and their own version of the special system. There are six skills (strength, intelligence etc.) and for every 20 points you put into one (up until 100) you'll gain a new perk
Companion Missions: Increase your relationship with that person and also stats of that person. Compansions also buff your character and interject themselves into your conversations. Companions each have a special attack (one named Felix does a double drop kick) but you can also equip them with whatever weapons you want
No, There is No Sex With Companions
There's a dumb option in conversations. Dark Humor will be a very big part of the game.
There's some sort of hacking/lockpicking mechanic. Hacking and lockpicking don't have minigames, and are simply based on your attributes
Fear or Flaw System - You can choose a fear or flaw, which will give you an ability but also give you a disadvantage. So while you might take extra damage from a certain enemy type, you might be powerful in other areas of the game. But there’s also other fears: fear of heights, darkness and more. The game may notice that you’ll catch on fire a lot and as a result, ask you if you want to take this on as a fear, which will mean your more susceptable to fire damage but will offer you something really, really interesting on top of this new fear.
Looting - Looting is a big part of the game. You can loot armor, gear, outfits, ammo, and weapons and other enhancements, like what appears to be andrenaline boosts
Weapons - Weapons are a big part of the game. We get to see the main protagonist with 4 weapons in the weapon wheel - 2 melee and 2 guns, a revolver and shotgun, then a knife and scythe.
It appears there some sort of mech suits. This could be the game’s version of power armor maybe?
There's a really cool third person finale kill cam that appears to highlight you or your companions when you get an epic kill
Branching paths were revealed in the gameplay demonstration. They're still not sure if it will be possible to play through the game completely pacifist (but you'll almost definitely have to at least kill some robots)
Abilities - There are powers in the game, including something called time dilution. This pauses time so you can have some time to figure stuff out and look at enemy stats, levels and more. This ability will drain quicker when moving. This is the game’s version of Fallout’s VATS. Attacks done during time dilation do extra damage too.
Stealth is also a very vialble option and you can stealth your way into secure facilties and essentially play anyway you want to.
You will be getting your own ship to fly around the solar system in the game. Think Mass Effect. You can visit two planets in this game, including several moons, asteroids and space stations. The planets are terraformed but one planet did not terraform properly so its considered the freak planet out of the two.
Robots aren't sentient, but your ship's AI seems to have a strange degree of personality
